How to Setup Bulk Import of Students

Many course creators desire to migrate their students' from their former platforms. For course creators with more than 20 students, it would be daunting to add the students and assign courses to them manually.

In this article, we will look at how to prepare bulk import sheets for your students from the bulk import screen, so that they can all be imported at once, regardless of their number.

To find the bulk imports screen, click on the Admin menu >> by your left-hand side, scroll down, and click Manage Students >> Bulk imports.

To import your existing students, you will need to provide us with these two spreadsheets filled in: the users' sheet, and the enrollments sheet. You can fill them out directly in Google Sheets.

NOTE: You can fill them in Google Sheets by making a copy of them, and sending us a shared link for each.

Users' Sheet:

This sheet will contain the emails and names (optional) in two separate columns. Please note that your students' names are optional, as only the emails are necessary for the bulk import.

Also, each student's details should be filled in per row, as shown in the screenshot below, with the email address in the first column and the names in the second column.

Enrollments Sheet:

This sheet should contain your student's emails and the course(s) they have enrolled for.

You need to fill in one line per student enrollment, with the email address in the first column and the titles of the courses in the second column.

If a student is enrolled in more than one course, you will need to fill in two separate lines with the student's email, one line for each course that the student has enrolled in, as shown in the screenshot below:

Note:  Once you have filled the two sheets with the required students' details, Please email us the two filled-in spreadsheets to helpdesk@onlinecoursehost.com , and we will take care of importing your students (typically within a business day).
